Live crew map

See where your drivers are while they work a task, and how the crew app feeds the map on your dashboard.

The dashboard shows a live map of every driver who is out on a task right now. It sits at the top of Dashboard whatever date you're browsing, because who is on the road doesn't depend on the day you're looking at.

What you see

When at least one contractor is working a task, the dashboard shows a Drivers on the road card with a count and a map:

  • Each pin is a contractor's last reported position.
  • A Live badge means positions are being pushed to your screen as they arrive. Polling means the live connection dropped and the map is refreshing on a timer instead. Both show real positions.
  • Updated tells you how fresh the latest refresh is. The refresh button next to it reloads now.

Click a pin to open that contractor's details: their current task, GPS accuracy, speed and when they last reported. The map also draws the path they've driven since they started that task.

When nobody is working a task, the card reads No drivers on the road right now. The map itself only loads once someone is driving.

Where the positions come from

Positions come from the PartyPad crew app on each contractor's phone. There's nothing to switch on in the dashboard.

  1. The contractor starts a task in the app. If the task is a driver task, the app asks for the vehicle and the starting odometer first.
  2. The app asks for location permission if it doesn't have it yet, then starts reporting the phone's position for that task.
  3. Reporting stops when the contractor completes the task or drops it.

The dashboard checks the full list of active drivers every minute. A driver who finishes a task leaves the map within about a minute.

When a driver is missing

If you know someone is out and they aren't on the map, check these in order:

  • Did they start the task in the app? Tracking begins when the task goes to In Progress, not when it's assigned. Check the task's status on Tasks.
  • Did they allow location access? If the phone refused location permission, the task still starts but no position is sent. Ask them to turn on location for PartyPad in their phone settings, then reopen the task.
  • Is the phone online? Positions need a data connection. A pin that stops moving usually means the phone lost signal.
  • Can you see contractors? The map only shows for roles allowed to view contractors. If your dashboard never shows the card, ask your account owner to check your role under Team.

Other places to watch the crew

  • Contractors → Live Tracking opens a larger tracking view of everyone currently reporting a position. See Contractors.
  • The dispatch board map shows planned routes and stops, not live positions. Use it to plan the day and this map to watch it happen.
  • Owners on the go can follow the crew from the PartyPad Admin app.
