Online payments with Stripe

Connect your own Stripe account so customers pay you directly on your booking page, with no commission taken by PartyPad.

Customers who book on your booking page pay your own Stripe account directly. The money never passes through PartyPad, and PartyPad takes no commission on your bookings.

How the money moves

  • Each charge is made on your Stripe account, in your business's name.
  • Payouts go from Stripe to your bank on whatever schedule you set in Stripe.
  • Stripe's own card processing fees apply, as they would on any Stripe charge. PartyPad adds no fee on top.
  • Refunds, disputes and payouts are handled in your Stripe dashboard. PartyPad watches for them and updates the booking. See What happens when a customer books online.

Customers can pay by card or with Link, Stripe's saved-checkout option.

Connect Stripe

  1. Open Booking Page. The Online payments card is at the top.
  2. Select Connect with Stripe.
  3. On Stripe's screen, sign in if you already have a Stripe account and choose the account to use. If you're new to Stripe, create an account there.
  4. Finish any details Stripe asks for, then you're sent back to PartyPad.

When the connection is complete, the card shows a green Connected badge, your Stripe account number, an Open Stripe dashboard link and a Disconnect button.

You need the account owner's or an admin's access to change these settings.

If it isn't connected yet

The card tells you where things stand:

  • "Stripe is reviewing your account." You've finished Stripe's setup and Stripe is verifying it. There's nothing to do in PartyPad. Online payments turn on once Stripe approves the account.
  • "Your Stripe account is linked but can't take payments yet." Stripe still needs something from you. Select Finish setup in Stripe and complete it in your Stripe dashboard, then come back.
  • Finish Stripe setup. You started a new Stripe account from PartyPad and didn't finish. Select it to pick up where you left off.

If you linked the wrong account, select Use a different Stripe account and choose the right one.

Disconnect

Select Disconnect and confirm. Customers can't pay on your booking page until you reconnect, so the page goes offline. If you connected through Stripe sign-in, PartyPad's access to your Stripe account is revoked at the same time. Otherwise, also remove PartyPad from your Stripe dashboard to fully revoke access.

Payments already made stay in your Stripe account. PartyPad keeps track of them, so a refund or dispute on an older booking still updates that booking after you reconnect.

When Stripe stops accepting charges

If Stripe turns off charges on your account, for example because it needs more information from you, your booking page goes offline on its own. The Booking page card shows a warning saying so. Fix the issue in your Stripe dashboard and the page comes back.

If the card says Stripe is refusing PartyPad's access to your account, and you removed PartyPad in Stripe, reconnect. If you didn't, it usually clears on its own.
